A Note About Band

Dear Parents, Grade 6/7 parents have been asking, "Will there be band this year?" Short answer, "No, there will not be band this year."   ...which leads to the question of "Why not???" The main reason we are not having band is because our school has grown so much over the last 6 years, adding 4 divisions, that the music program has been cut back time wise for all students. There is one music room and one music teacher. I was full-time 6 years ago when we had 4 less divisions! So my music time is much less with all students. The bright side of this is that students are now receiving more library time with the fabulous Mme. Sullivan. When I was able to teach band successfully around 6 years ago, we did not have split classes and I could teach just the grade 6's in one class and just the grade 7's in another.
